How this page is built
Each program guide is built on the NCES/BLS CIP 2020 to SOC 2018 crosswalk, which relates a program to an occupation when programs in that CIP category “typically prepare individuals directly for” jobs in the occupation. It is not a record of graduates’ outcomes. Each card names the CIP scope its guide covers; a guide may cover a whole CIP family, so its occupation list can be longer than the list for one CIP code in the major to career finder.
Pay pages use College Scorecard field-of-study data. Scorecard figures describe graduates who received federal financial aid, and every pay page names that population. Association is not causation: a program shown next to an occupation or a pay figure does not cause that job or that pay.
- Where graduates actually work: the crosswalk is not an outcomes record.
- The typical education for one specific job: the Do I need a degree? checker covers that.
- Pay for programs without a pay page: Scorecard does not publish a national figure for every field.
- Programs with no guide here: look them up in the major to career finder.
