These are calculations from your numbers, not BLS data and not an official or government hourly wage.
To find a calculated hourly equivalent, divide an annual salary by the hours worked in a year; to find a calculated annual equivalent, multiply the hourly rate by those hours. At the default of 40 hours a week for 52 weeks (2,080 hours), $60,000 a year is a calculated $28.85 an hour and $25.00 an hour is a calculated $52,000 a year, before taxes. Separately, BLS data show that 58% of U.S. workers were in occupations with a BLS median annual wage below $60,000 in May 2025.
Where that pay sits among U.S. occupations
Data BLS-published median wages, May 2025. Kept apart from the calculator: nothing here is converted.
Occupations whose BLS median annual wage is within 5% of the annual amount above (at least 1,000 employed). The hourly figure is the BLS-published median hourly wage, shown only where BLS publishes one.

How to convert salary and hourly pay
Hourly to annual: hourly rate × hours worked per week × weeks worked per year. At 40 × 52 = 2,080 hours, $20 an hour is a calculated $41,600 a year.
Annual to hourly: annual salary ÷ (hours worked per week × weeks worked per year). $50,000 ÷ 2,080 = a calculated $24.04 an hour.
Unpaid weeks lower the annual figure: 50 paid weeks at $25 an hour and 40 hours is 40 × 50 × $25 = $50,000. Everything is before taxes and deductions.
How this page is built
Calculator: arithmetic on the numbers you enter. 40 hours × 52 weeks = 2,080 hours is the default assumption, which you control; it is not BLS data. BLS uses the same 2,080-hour convention when it reports annual wages for occupations paid by the hour, but the calculator's results are your calculation, not a BLS estimate.
BLS comparison: BLS OEWS national median annual wages for 825 detailed occupations (May 2025), weighted by employment. 5 occupations that BLS publishes with hourly wages only (performers paid by the hour) are left out rather than converted. For occupations BLS reports with annual wages only, such as teachers, no hourly figure is shown: TryHired never divides an annual median by 2,080.
